ES1001 Making Sense of Econometrics

Description

This course provides an introduction to the econometric techniques used in academic and practical research in economics, finance and related fields. In addition, it provides an introduction to a user-friendly computer software package (Stata).

Course structure
This is a hands-on course, which covers both theory and application. It includes seven lectures and five practical seminars.
Topics
Two variable linear regression – Multiple regression – Modeling qualitative responses – Heteroscedasticity – Autocorrelation – Multicollinearity – Model Selection
Assessment
By the end of the course certificates of completion will be issued for candidates who meet the minimum requirements to pass the course. Assessment for this course is based on two assignments worth 20% each, and 60% on a two-hour online examination.
